Bartlesville Community Foundation is pleased to announce a grant award to the Bartlesville District Science Fair to support the group’s continued participation in both regional and international competitions.
“Bartlesville District Science Fair provides an outstanding hands-on learning opportunity for students,” says Lee Carvell, BDSF director. “Participants learn not only about the practical application of scientific theory but also gain experience in presentations. It’s exciting to see the creativity and enthusiasm that students bring to both the local and international competitions.”
The grant is made possible through Bartlesville Community Foundation’s Science Education fund, originally established by Kenneth and Diana Adams. The fund was designed to support programs like the district science fair. “Science Fair was a wonderful experience for our daughter – it really made an impact on her life,” says Diana Adams. “Bartlesville Community Foundation offered an opportunity to help ensure ongoing opportunities for students interested in the sciences.”
Julia Crouch, executive director for BCF, adds, “This grant is a perfect illustration of the community foundation’s ability to provide an outstanding funding vehicle for donors that have a passion. By working with the Adams to utilize their donation in a manner that achieves their charitable objectives, we’ve provided a convenient way for them to impact the lives of others and help our community.”
BCF offers a number of already-established funds as well as the opportunity to customize a new fund to the donor’s specifications, so that grants can be made to a variety of causes. Through the flexibility of the community foundation, donors can structure their gift in a way that the cause most important to them is supported and that dollars are used efficiently and effectively.
